FAQs
HOW ARE STOCKS SELECTED?
The universe of US Equities is screened based on the following criteria:
-State of Domicile: North Carolina, South Carolina
-Security Types: Common Stock
Companies with a Market Capitalization of greater than $150 MM are typically selected for inclusion in the index.
HOW IS THE INDEX UPDATED? HOW FREQUENTLY?
At the end of each quarter, the index is rebalanced to reflect changes in the location of company headquarters, as well as mergers, acquisitions, and new Initial Public Offerings throughout the region.
HOW IS THE INDEX WEIGHTED?
The Index is Equal Dollar Weighted, meaning that each company is given the same percentage allocation (or equal representation) in the Index Portfolio during the quarterly rebalance.
HOW IS THE INDEX VALUE CALCULATED?

The Index Value is calculated based on a starting value of 1000.00 referenced on December 31, 2015. The total percent appreciation in Portfolio value (# of shares x $ per share) since the starting date based on rebalancing rules is calculated and is multiplied by the starting value to arrive at the current Index Value. Similar calculations are done to derive a Benchmark Index Value.
WHERE DOES THE DATA COME FROM?
All price data is received at Capital Investment Companies from Nottingham Company, and comes from sources believed to be reliable.
WHAT HAPPENS WHEN A COMPANY RELOCATES ITS HEADQUARTERS OUT OF THE REGION?
Upon the announcement that a company will relocate its headquarters out of North or South Carolina, the value of that company’s constituency in the index will be converted to a cash position until the next rebalance, for the purposes of tracking the Index Value.
